How Far In Advance You Should Book Your Wedding Photographer
When it comes to planning your wedding one of the most important things, besides deciding on a venue and date, is your wedding photographer. They’re with you a majority of your wedding day so you should not only love their style and work, but also vibe with their personalities! Now, finding that perfect photographer can take some time and you don’t want to wait too long to book. Below, we breakdown some commonly asked questions about booking your photographer!
I just got engaged, when do I book my photographer?
Start your search early! Once you have your venue and date picked out, your wedding photographer should be one of the first vendors that you book. We typically suggest 12 months out, but if you’re looking to get married in prime wedding season (June, September, & October) we suggest booking about a year and a half in advance. These are really popular months for weddings and Saturdays fill up QUICK!
What if I’m getting married in the off season?
You have a little more flexibility if you’re planning a December-March wedding. We suggest booking your photographer 9-12 months out for the off-season.
I’m getting married on a Friday or Sunday, when should I book my photographer?
Friday and Sunday weddings are a little more common now since the pandemic (ew, we still cringe saying that word). Since they’re not as common as Saturday weddings, you can book 6-9 months before the wedding if it’s not during prime wedding months mentioned above.
Should I meet with my photographer before booking?
Yes! We always love meeting with our couples before booking. We either meet in person or at least schedule a phone call to get to know you and what you are looking for in a wedding photographer. This is a great way to see if we would be the best fit! (9.9 times out of 10, we think we will be.)
