The Newest Member of the Swatch Family: Arianna
As you know, Brooks and I have been keeping busy these last few years with weddings upon weddings - one amazing couple after another - and we have loved every minute of it. We’ve even gone our separate ways to shoot two weddings in one day so that we can work with even more amazing couples! As our past and present Swatch couples already know, we have a great group of people we work with regularly: second photographers and videographers, assistants, photobooth attendants and our interns from BGSU.
Well, this year, we have decided to bring on a more permanent team member. Someone to work alongside Brooks and I as a third head photographer and help us in the day-to-day office work. Little did we know we’d find someone who has an amazing eye for not only capturing beauty, but also creating it…someone who can break out in song right along with me (and even harmonize like no other)...and someone who is just charming AF (I mean, look at that adorable nose crunching grin).
This is where we introduce you to Arianna. And while we could try to tell you all about her ourselves, we think she would probably do it better. Keep reading and get to know more about this sweet, crafty and kind soul!
Where have you been all our lives?
From the ages of 6-18 I lived in Orlando, Florida, where I consumed limitless amounts of sunshine and Disney World visits. After my high school graduation, I moved to Springfield Missouri to attend James River Leadership College, where I received hands on photo and video experience and also met my absolute best friend (now husband) Clayton. We got married in 2017 and moved back to his hometown where we now reside in a cute 100 year old home in Toledo, Ohio.
When did you get into photography?
When I got my first camera phone in Fifth grade, I started experimenting with photography and embarrassing posing and filter combinations.
What type of music do you listen to?
Alternative. There aren’t really many artists I listen to on a consistent basis, but some of my favorites are: Johnny Swim, James Vincent McMorrow, and any good movie soundtrack that comes along.
What is your favorite TV show?
It’s a toss-up between ’New Girl’ and ‘Parks and Rec’.
What is your favorite food?
Anything stuffed with, topped with, surrounded by, or involving cheese.
What interests you about weddings?
Decor and styling is one of my sweet spots when it comes to weddings. I love how a couple can tell a story through the creative signage and calligraphy woven throughout the venue, or even their choice of flowers! There’s no “right” way to create the atmosphere for your wedding, so the personalized touches speak volumes to me about the couple.
What are your hobbies outside of photography?
Making art, whether in a digital graphics form or paper and watercolor, has always been a huge part of my life. Anytime I’m able to make something with my hands, it’s a good day. Which is why my husband and I decided to take on the challenge of remodeling an 100 year old home. Most of our free time is either spent at a craft store, Home Depot, or in our basement refinishing countertops or making a table from scratch.
What are your favorite things to photograph?
I love to photograph places I travel too and people doing what they love! I also really enjoy styling product shoots. I have creative friends, so anything I can do to help promote what they make, (ie. clothes, art, products) is so rewarding for me. I’m also heavily involved in my church’s media team, which allows me to photograph anything from event coverage to more creative shoots.
