Swatch Studios Interns

If you’ve worked with us in the last couple years, you may have had the honor of meeting our wonderful intern from BGSU, Kristy Cartmell. We introduced her a couple years ago as our first ever intern and she did an amazing job helping our team and serving our couples. We enjoyed having her on our team so much in 2016 that we brought her back again in 2017 as a second shooter and photo editor. As much as we would love to keep her around, Kristy is working her way towards graduation with another co-op.

This year, we are excited to welcome two new interns to the team! Erin & Taylor are also students in the Visual Communication Technology program at Bowling Green State University and we are super excited to have them on board. Learn more about these wonderful ladies and give them a nice, warm welcome in the comments below!

Erin Leupp

Where did you grow up?

  • I grew up in Maumee, Ohio and have lived here my entire life!

When did you get into photography?

  • When I was around seven years old, I attended my aunts wedding. From that moment, I knew that I wanted to be a wedding photographer. I continued begging my parents to get me disposable cameras every single time we went to the store, simply, because that's all I wanted to do: take pictures. There's a beauty in capturing a moment just at the press of a button that has, and will always, interest me.

What are your favorite things to photograph?

  • I really enjoy portrait photography. I love capturing people in their true element.

What interests you about weddings?

  • I am a HUGE hopeless romantic which is the reason I fell in love with weddings and wedding photography. Instead of watching a movie or burying my nose in a Nicholas Sparks novel, I can experience a love story unfold right before my eyes. The idea of love and all that comes with it is such an incredible thing which is why I'll probably always be considered a hopeless romantic because I will never get bored of watching people fall and be in love. I wouldn't want to know a life without it!

What is your favorite food?

  • Choosing a favorite food is hard. I love trying new things. My top three are probably; gyros, sushi, and chicken Fettuccine alfredo!

What’s your favorite TV show?

  • My all time favorite television show is Friends.

What are your hobbies outside of photography?

  • Outside of photography, I really enjoy writing. I spend a lot of time journaling and working on the two novels I started writing over the past couple of years. I also enjoy exploring new coffee shops, doing yoga, and hanging out with friends.

Are there any other fun facts we should know about you?

  • I wrote and published a children's book in fifth grade!

Where did you grow up?

  • Perrysburg, Ohio

When did you get into photography/videography?

  • When I was younger, my dad used to video tape a lot of the things we did as a family. I think that’s when it really started with me. I didn’t get super into it until I asked for my first video camera around 6th grade. When I was in 8th grade, I joined a closed-circuit news show created by 10-12 students and loved being behind the scenes. My sophomore through senior year in high school I was apart of a video production class. (I even got to create the class of 2014 senior video!) Video has been apart of me since I can remember.

  • Photography came hand in hand with videography for me, too. I started taking “portraits” of my friends in Jr. High. I always had “my gear” with me and it’s fun to look back at the cringe-worthy content I created in jr. high and early high school. Since I’m graduating in December, I’m excited to see how my portfolio develops and I think it’s fun to look back on my “early work.”

What are your favorite things to photograph?

  • The world is a beautiful, wonderful place and I love to capture it and people. But, I really enjoy commercial photography, too. It’s great because I can challenge myself by creating impactful images that also tells a brand’s story.

What interested you about commercial video work?

  • My junior year of college, I created a video for Howard’s (check it out HERE), a bar in Bowling Green, Ohio. I had such a great time learning about the history of the town and the bar. I loved being able to tell Howard’s story to others. The crew and I had a lot of fun along the way, too. I’m excited to continue to learn how to create videos that tell a brand’s or person’s story.

What’s your favorite food?

  • Hands down, fettuccine alfredo.  I’ve loved it since I was a little kid. Another staple in my diet? Pizza.

What’s your favorite TV show?

  •  The Office and Parks & Rec. Please don’t make me choose!

Do you have any hobbies outside of photography?

  • Yes! I’ve been riding horses since I was 5 years old! I compete as a Hunter Jumper with my partner in crime, Oliver. I’ve owned and competed with Oliver since I was about 13-ish. He’s been through everything with me; jr. high, high school, and college. We’re getting close to 10 year anniversary. He’s my “once in a life time” team mate and best friend.

What kind of music do you listen to?

  • I love Alternative & Indie. I also have a huge soft twenty one pilots and Nothing More so if you play it, you can 110% count on me singing along unapologetically.
